ChrisV=> the port on the body of the car On the front cover of the Haynes manual is a cutaway illustration of a carbureted Fasty. In this illustration you can clearly see the position of the port and the parts related to intake air. There are only two ports from the body; the combustion intake is in the right rear corner of the engine bay, up high; the big oval cooling air intake is obvious. Any other hole in the body back there will compromise your cooling. => I was looking at the water drain flaps I can't figure out what you mean here at all. => I would like to know what sort of precautions, => changes, etc. I should do to safeguard my car => from the 120F+ (47C+) heat in Vegas? Your Type 3 will run fine in this weather without modification if you've got it timed right and all stock parts are in place and working properly, and you drive it in a manner you would any other car under these conditions. Type 3s have a reputation for easy overheating that is simply false. They rarely fail from any cause other than lack of maintenance, careless modification, or substandard mechanicking.
