Hello Jim, We are the folks in California that e-mailed you a while back asking about why our squareback has such a rough idle when started up in the morning; it sounds as if there is not enough gas getting to the fuel injection. After about 1-2 minutes everything seems to kick in and the car runs like a champ. After our mechanic tuned it up, he told us that that the rough idle in the morning was normal, but after listening and talking to other squareback owners with FI, I believe him to either be incorrect or just not too willing to investigate the problem due to a lack of FI knowledge. Afterall, did this car have a funky idle when brand new??????? Anyway, after finally finding a VW only mechanic [the only one that did not either laugh in my face or was just plain rude] that knew what he was talking about because he raised his kids in a squareback, we have good reason to believe his over the phone diagnosis of the temperature sensor being the problem. This mechanic told me how much he loved these cars and wished he saw more people take the interest and care to keep them running. We actually had asked a VW mechanic around the corner from us about our problem who told us the same thing - change the temperature sensor. Unfortunately, when we asked if he would be interested in helping us out, he said he does not care to take on the challenge of fuel injection on squareback's anymore -- was not worth his time. As for whether we want a temp sensor cyl head or crankcase -- we really do not know -- is there a difference. My husband is looking at the Bentley Manual who refers to them as being the same. Is it figure 7-5 in the Bentley Manual. We really need some help on this. Thanks. Also what is the price difference between the new vs. used. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Adney" <jadney@vwtype3.org> To: <type3@vwtype3.org> Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2003 6:52 PM Subject: Re: [T3] bosch parts > On 10 Jul 2003 at 17:34, anthony&rhonda wrote: > > > I am trying to find a dist.for bosch parts in the L.A.
