Getting the shaft in there right is important and it's an easy thing to overlook; I've done it myself. > * Do I have to pull/drop the whole transmission to repair or get to it? The problem could be with the torque converter splines, the drive shaft splines, or the pump. I'll have to look at the Bentley myself to see what the pump drive plate is. > * Does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit for the ATF pump? > * Where can I get the pump shaft or new ATF pump? I may have a drive shaft somewhere. Other parts would probably have to be bought individually from a dealer. I have some AT gasket sets. They are incomplete, but they might still have everything you need in the way of gaskets. > Any hints on getting to this pump part? I have never worked on the > transmission. I kind think it's the very last thing you get to when you tear one of these down. I've never done it (knocks on wood) and hope I never have to. You might want to consider looking for a good used AT instead. Russ will know a lot more about this than I do. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
