Depends on what you're trying to glue together. There are a few
different 3M products that I've used with good results. One of them is
meant especially for high temperature locations and is recommended for
headliners and engine soundproofing material. I've also used regular
brush-on contact cement for things like door panels. All of them work
pretty well if you follow their directions, which usually call for
coating both surfaces and allowing them to dry for a while before
assembly. There are some types of flexible vinyl need a special
adhesive to stick well -- I'm still researching this for my floormat
project.
I wonder if high outside temperatures affect the hold of contact
cement? If the weather in San Diego is any thing like it is now in LA
that could be a factor.
