This sounds like a good plan. This way you can restore it later if you change 
your mind. I'd tape over all the hose ends, etc, just to keep dirt and insects 
out while the parts are in storage.

I don't envy you your summer temps....

You could just duct tape the air cleaner hole (the one in the body) closed. 
That would keep warm air from being sucked in there and run thru the engine for 
"cooling." Of course, you have to keep the air cleaner intake opening clear. 

;-)

For those of you cutting up old rusted wrecks, keep in mind that the rubber air 
cleaner intake bellows and the oval tube leading to them are both parts worth 
keeping. The rubber parts in particular are getting scarce. The oval metal 
tubes also come in at least 2 different lengths, so confusion there is common.
