I just got done looking through the paperwork we got from her last year (recipts for repairs/tuneups, the little dealership coupon book) though, and can't find anything about a new muffler .. though it might be missing. <shrug> we'll probably never know. OTOH, my father has quite a few '20s-era Chevrolets, most of which sat in local yards/fields/driveways for 30-40 years and most of them have perfectly good mufflers (and sometimes exhaust pipes) despite all the body wood being rotted away.
