Hahaha -- as a matter of fact, people *are* getting together down there in April: http://www.ggcvvwca.org/kelleypark2003.htm They've had increasing logistical difficulties with their hosts there at the park. A new twist this year is to allow only '67 and earlier VWs. (I doubt they'd notice my '69 Squareback is not quite that old, given the old-style bumpers... but that's another story.) Now, this pre-'68 policy is definitely a new twist, as the club describes. I entered and registered my '69 Squareback last time. Funny thing is, I was looking for late sixties/early seventies Beetles to examine seatbelt mounts, and there were like *two* (give or take) entered in the show. I also noticed that there was *one* bay window bus in the show. So, their new rule is going to reduce the entrance demand by like one percent. The number of pre-'68 cars that were turned away last year after the show filled could more than replace the few post-'67 cars that were in the show. I toyed with the idea of bringing my rough '63 Beetle (no looker, that car) just so that I could park in the show... but you have to get in line very early in the morning to get a space. *Very* early in the morning. Many people camp out overnight on the street. Funny -- I'd wanted to bring my kinda pretty '69 Beetle for show. Seems the organizers would rather have me show up in a ratty '63 than a pretty '69... ;) So, now my plan is to probably bring the Squareback for its cargo space, leave for the show as early as I feel like waking up that day, beep and wave to the folks waiting in line, then park outside and walk into the show to enjoy the cars and the swap meet. It's quite a popular show... too bad they don't ditch the park. I'm sure they could easily double the show and swap if they had a larger location!
