I agree that the T3 30psi electric pump does not go with the carbs and the mechanical pump does not go with the FI system.

The need for the T3 30psi electric pump is for the Fuel Injection obviously because the electric pump only came on the FI models.

What I was asking was is the 30psi required because of the injectors requiring more pressure to operate?
as opposed to say the fuel return line or the carbon filter or something else on the FI system?

No, this is strictly a carb controversy. The FI pump is a 30 psi electric pump,
completely different. You wouldn't want to use the FI pump with your carbs and
none of the carb pumps would do any good at all with FI.
