Re: [T3] thermostat linkage


I drove my FB around for about a month when I first got it on the road with
the same problem except they were frozen shut. I wondered why sometimes the
red light would come on momentarily ;(. I freed it by knocking the shaft
backand forth gently and appying loads of wd40- fine now and without
dismantling anything. I would really recommend that others who buy a new
type3 check this second after the oil, before firing her up. I checked
everything else, and fixed loads of stuff (including all the welding on the
body etc) but never thought to check that one fundamental thing. Lucky for
me I guess, I think the engine must have been in really good condition at
the time and I really wasn't driving far, and the VW gods were looking out
for me because they liked the other stuff I had done for the car, for she
still drives! and actually rather sweetly!- we will see for how long though
