I was just watching the skateboard film epic "Dogtown and Z-boys"-which just could be a bio on my own mis-spent youth- on DVD. In one of the early scenes, there's a nice early red Squareback loaded with surfboards pulling a u-turn in front of the Zephyr/Jeff Ho Surf Shop in Santa Monica in the mid '70's. At about the same time, I had a '70 Squareback with a stuck throttle that we wired with a coat hanger to get us home from the Cherry Hill skatepark after we had got Shogo Kubo so wasted that he couldn't skate...Oh well, another time and different place, I guess.
