[T3] gen/VR issues... part 27
<x-flowed>well, Toby came down to my place from Portland today to help me with my
wiring issues (complete mess under the dash) as well as the gen/VR issue
in the 73 squareback. After a long day, the wiring under the dash was
cleaned up and we were getting a charge to the battery from the
generator! whooohooooo!!!! so, for a victory celebration, we took off
for a drive. we drove through town, noting that the voltage was good
and would vary a bit with rpms. 5 miles into the drive we hit the
freeway on ramp and i rap through the gears... enjoying the cruise and
listening to the motor. get to the offramp by my house 4 miles later
and the meter is reading below 12v and with revs the meter shows no
change. grrrr. get back to the house, and go through the
bentley/adney battery of tests... ZERO output from the generator again!
aaaaaauuuuughhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is exactly what it did
before when i thought i had it fixed... it cut out after rapping through
the gears. what is going on? anyone else experienced this kind of
failure? i am puzzled, perplexed, pissed and profoundly phrustrated
(needed some aliteration here).
