I wasn't thinking that they really sat around for days intensionally, just that if the bodies were made and painted in batches then perhaps they would be "parked" somewhere while pans came down the line and claimed them. If this were so, then it is also quite possible that there would be a "parking lot" of (for example) red notch bodies which might have been populated by one or more such paint batches, and then stacked in there randomly. There would be no reason for an exact first in/first out selection.
