You can't heat a car using battery power unless the weight of batteries is about the same as the empty car. The fuel shouldn't come anyhwhere near the points in the pump. the fuel lines should be a tight as on the engine - no fuel leaks are permitted! There are some pretty good sparks inside the distributor cap, and yet we don't mind fuel lines passing close. It's a diaphragm pump; I think the valves should ensure the fuel flows eventually. Take care and have an extinguisher handy! Dave.
