> What's the best way to clean my oil bath air filter? As a matter of routine, you should never have to "clean" it, other than drain the old oil out and replace with fresh. I read somewhere that the filter innards are made from coir (the hairy stuff on the outside of coconut husks). If your filter were for some reason absolutely filthy and required a deep cleaning, I believe the way to clean it would be to immerse it, holes down, in kerosene or some other "oily" solvent. Gasoline would dry it out and probably ruin it. After the soaking, I think I'd let it sit, with the holes down, for several days to dry in a well-ventilated area. -Mark Fuhriman '69 Fastback ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
