However, it IS different than my '69 Bug's setup. It sounds like someone rebuilt your engine and used a type 1 case because they didn't have a proper one. The dipstick is probably some variation on a beetle dipstick, and you're adding oil thru the breather hole, which will work, but this is all clearly a kludge. The downside is that EVERYTHING has to be redone to fix this. The upside is that when you're done you MIGHT be able to sell the case to someone into beetles.
