I just recieved a new steering wheel that was sold to me as a Type3 wheel, but it's a bit unusual. It looks pretty much the same as a standard late model wheel except that the rim and horn push are softish molded rubbery foam (similar to the dash pad). The rim is molded to look and feel like a leather wheel- including the stitches! The horn push has a silver Wolfsburg crest emblem and a silver painted backing piece. I can't find a part number, but it has VW markings (crude) and the internals look just the same as a normal one. The only other marking is a date stamp- 02 10 72 on the hub. Does anyone know if this is a Type3 part, or if its off a Type4 or something else? I'm sure it will look and feel right- perhaps its an accessory? I like the original wheel so I'm not sure I'll change it- just curious!
