I drill and tap the holes deeper into the case, being careful not to break thru. Bottom tap the holes and use longer bolts. These bolts originally had external star washers on them, so use those also, as well as loctite. I kind of like the suggestion to put some silicone goo on the heads, too, but I wouldn't overdo it. There should also be a long 8mm bolt that goes thru both halves of the housing and holds the "handle" in place at the rear. Since that bolt can be tightened MUCH more than the others it is probably really important not to leave it out. Note that the fan housing center hole is supposed to be centered on the crank as you tighten it.
