Yes this can be done in the car. Some exhaust systems require removal in 
order to get the lower 6mm bolts to be removed. You need a 30 mm socket for 
the crank pulley. Jim A. might have a little more insight on those screws, 
when reassembling them. When you get them back in and before you re-install 
the fan you might want to silicone plug the screws in place (fill the indent 
completely covering the screws), as this will keep them from backing out and 
getting into the fan. While you have it apart inspect the fan for grooves and 
replace if needed. I hope this helps.
