While the clamp is different, the distributor mount is the same. Remove the nut from the stud on the case and pull up. The clamp does nothing to hold the distributor down. Your clamp may be distorted in a way that jams it on the stud, in which case you might try tapping at the bend in the clamp (use a dull cold chisel) to move the clamp tab toward the distributor. If, on the other hand, the problem is that the distributor won't even *turn* with the clamp loose, you may have rust in the case, which would not bode well. Just checking: there should be a VW-style part number on that distributor as well as the one you found. I'd like to know that number.
