I think this is just a very nice NOS VDO aftermarket tach. I'm surprised that you can't see "VDO" at the bottom of the dial, but perhaps it is there, just not visible at this angle. The thing that really surprises me is the lack of type 3 mounting clips, which I thought these had, and I think Russ confirmed this a couple days ago. This makes me wonder if this particular model was actually made to match a different VW. They made such tachs for lots of cars.
