I did think the same as you at first, but there is definitely an inconsistency in the running of my engine and I'm inclined to believe that it is the linkage thats causing it. I'm pretty sure that the ball joint linkages are less important than the central pivot, but I'm going to get it all tight anyway- I guess I just want it to be right. The central pivot is most important IMHO because if it can move from side to side on its spindle, one carb is going to open a bit, whilst the other closes- which is not good!
