Nope you see correctly..The halfs do not have the same casting face to them 
from the factory.
It seems the halfs are cast independantly from each other Left Vs Right.. 
Once the halfs are cooled they are then milled on the face, thru bolts 
inserted and THEN they are cut for the Crank journals, cam journals, oil 
cooler,oil pump, fuel pump, distributor and pressure relife valves.

All though they might not match on the out side, internaly they are a 
perfect match [where it counts] as is life not everything is perfect...so we 
make do...until we get it polished!
