Re: [T3] type 3 alternators

<x-flowed>When you start calculating how much current is required to run your car it can add up pretty quickly.

Low Beam Headlights 55W/14V=~4A Ea x2=8A
High Beam Headlights 60W/14V=~4.3A EA x2=8.6A
Instrument Lights 2W/14V= .2A EA x3=.6A
License Light 10W/14V= .7A Ea
Tail Lights 5W/14V= .4A Ea x2=.8A
Front Marker Lights 4W/14V= .3A Ea x2=.6A

Brake Lights 21W/14V= 1.3A Ea x2=2.6A
Turn Signal Lights 21W/14V= 1.3A Ea x4=5.3A
Backup Lights 21W/14V= 1.3A Ea x2=2.6A
Total without radio or windshield wipers with low beam headlights = 21.2A

If we add in roughly 4A for a radio and 4A for the wiper motor you're pushing 30A. Now granted you wouldn't have everything running at once except at night in the rain while backing up trying to parallel park your car. Remember that these are just rough calculations. I still think the 40A alternator that Toby is using would be great especially if you are using H4 headlights with 100W or 130W highbeams ;^)
