>My apologies Jim, this Type IV engine was installed in a Porsche. I know, even without the change in aerodynamics/weight, 35 seems really high, but this was actually his average according to his post on the aircooledtech forums. He claims he got 44mpg on one 60-mile section of road. Damn. > I personally don't think that 60 miles is a good indicator of gas mileage. Too much opportunity for error, like maybe you put 0.2 gallons less into the tank when you filled up because you unintentionally topped off the first time. I once got 40 mpg in my Bus because I filled up at the top of a 30-40 mile downgrade and then filled up again about 75 miles later. The Bus normally got 25 mpg. -- Everett Barnes '66 Type 34 - ~30 mpg ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
