I thought VW claimed the same 65 HP output for all the FI engines. There was a change in HP measurement at some point, however. I don't remember when that occurred. According to the microfilm production survey all the FI engines were 40 kW/54 BHP. These are probably DIN HP, leading to 65 SAE HP.
