The latter 2 are similar enough that they can be interchanged. I was ready to defer to Russ on this, because I really just never had much experience with any single port type 3 engines, but I paused long enough to actually look these up in the microfilm. Turns out we were both wrong; there are actually 4 different versions of this cover plate: early single port, up to about engine #60,000 late single port dual port carb dual port FI I suspect that only the bottom three will interchange on the same late cooling tin. I'll assume that Russ is right about the type 1s and that there were no such plates on those engines. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
