No, it is not okay. This rubber part connects the engine's cooling air intake to the dictuing that comes from the louvers in the rear fenders. Without it, you will be taking in hot and dirty air from the area around the engine/muffler, and as we all know, hot air doesnt cool the engine as well as cold air.
