Re: [T3] an update and new q

KurtN=> feels like the engine's power dips for a moment,
=> then is back, then dips again a few seconds later, ...
=> a clogged fuel filter. Does this sound reasonable?

No. This could conceivably be some gunk in one of the carbs, but what I'd
look for first is a loose electrical connection at the coil.

=> fuel filters: should I have one in the engine compartment?
=> There is currently one in the line running from the pump
=> to the carb; would it be best if I removed it?

It's not a problem that it's in the compartment -- it's much easier to see
and service there -- but it would be better placed before the pump. It
doesn't make a difference to performance, but with the arrangement you have
you should regularly check the screen in the pump for gunk buildup.
