Re: [T3] Quick Story and Starter Solenoid

<x-flowed>>> Question: Is it practical for me to just rebuild the solenoid
myself? Or
should I just get a new (rebuilt) one and turn the old one in as a core?
Will I have trouble finding the parts to get this fixed by tomorrow? I'm in
the San Francisco bay area (East Bay).

I would do NOTHING right now. Drive it again for awhile and see if it ever does
it again. There's a good chance that it won't, or that it only does it on long
hot road trips.

My 73 AT did this to me on a trip a few years ago and I thought I'd have to
work it over. I still haven't touched it and it asn't happened since....

This (very common) issue is not, I believe, caused by the solenoid. I had the same problem on Bugs and the real cause was that typical voltage loss issue between ignition switch and solenoid. Adding a simple relay in that circuit fixed it.

It seems the solenoid just has a lot more resistance when it gets hot down there.
