Well, The buggy is again running pretty well. I still need to do the carb rebuilds, but hopefully they can wait till the winter. I hate to tear into it when I could be driving it. As for the root of the problem I was having with the post ignition popping in the headers, I adjusted the only mixture adjustments that I could find in my manual. I tuned in the idle mixture valve, and move the cotter out on the accel pump. Despite the advice of this group, I have been too lazy to buy a Haynes or Bently manual. My Chiltons manual says nothing about how to adjust the mixture for the normal running operation. These adjustments made my problem better, but it did not go away. I then cleaned my rotor button w/ some 320 grit, and also the points. The problem went away. The button is new this spring, and the points were filed down to clean, and re-set before I started driving it this spring. This is the second time I have cleaned them because of a bad miss. I wanted to replace them, but the local shop had none that fit mine. Any suggestions on where to get the right points? How do I tell if I have an OE distributor?
