What year is the engine?? The gasket is determined by the flywheel/crank
combination. All 12V flywheels should have the o-ring in the flywheel.
All 6V engines DO NOT use the o-ring. '64-66 use the steel gasket.
Measure the end play without the shims, but with the gasket if needed.
The thickness of the shims should equal the end play minus .003"-.004".
There are 2 different type shims used on our engines, depending on the
crankshaft. The inside diameter is larger for the early crankshafts.

You should be able to get the seal out without destroying it, if you are
very careful, and use a small pry bar.
