It would certainly attract the wrong attention from an insurance company if someone caused body damage to the car or you that was the subject of a claim. The hot tailpipe might be considered a hazard too. I'm not sure whether the lack of bumpers would be more than an invitation to the cop to look for oddities in documentation or structure, but with impact absorbing bumpers being a legal requirement in the original design, maybe I'm off track on this.
