[T3] let me tell you a story...
<x-flowed>....about toby the trooper,
he was a low down type 3 snooper.... oops sorry, mini the moocher got
stuck in my head. anyway
toby has had quite the type 3 weekend.
on friday i drove my purple 64 up to his house (roughly 200 miles).
just went up to hang out. anyway, we are talking about the stance of
the car and the fact that the PO lowered the nose unevenly. saturday we
tear into the front end. our mission was twofold. 1st remove the 10
lb each, stainless steel, towing contraption the PO had bolted and
WELDED to the car. 2nd was to (Keith don't look) lower the nose more
and try and get the front evened out in the process. it went well,
didn't draw blood or anything! well, the front is now 1/4 inch
different ride height instead of 1 inch, but i will be re-adjusting
again to fix the difference. anyway, some impressions. we don't know
know how many 'spines' the nose was lowered when we started, but the
front apron is 4ish inches off the ground. anyway, the ride is
perfectly straight (didn't realign), it is not at all harsh and the rake
will be to my liking as soon as i re index the rear to 'stock' height.
it is currently above stock height in the rear. the PO was a good body
man, but shouldn't have done the suspension.
toby was right in there with me as between us we had done both done
this, but it had been sooooo long ago that it was all a fuzzy memory.
so, i want to thank toby for all the help and the use of his dry shop!
without his motivation, it wouldn't have been done until summer. toby,
was it nice to be totally immersed in type 3s again?
