Oh, you guys are talking about the rear seat BACK latches...I was talking about the rear seat BOTTOM latch. On my '72 my rear seat back has a latch located at the far upper corner of the seat back. They're quite sturdy and I would trust them to hold back a load or two. My rear seat bottom has a single latch located in the rear, center of the seat. There's a metal hook welded to the center tunnel and that hook goes inside the seat bottom and it holds the bottom down. Of course, in cargo mode NONE of the latches are in use. The cables are what help hold the seat bottom from folding forward more. Yes, I do have the posts under the seat bottom that the back rest rests on.
