Re: [T3] Which master cylinder?


Sorry- don't know the answer but would like to! But on that subject I
noticed a bit of wettness around the rubber actuator rod seal on mine but it
works fine and the fluid level doesn't go down. Likewise, when I looked at
the rear (that I changed today) a year ago there was evidence of a lot of
leaked fluid- sticky black goo everywhere and the shoes very wet- but today
the shoes were bone dry and the brakes have worked for a year fine with no
noticeable drop in fluid level. Is it possible that after a car stands
unused for a long time (18mths in my case) that the cylinders develop a
ridge or light rust or something that causes them to leak for a while when
you first use them again, but that clears itself up again after a while? And
is this therefore a reason to rebuild them or is it safe to keep using them
like that? Of course with brakes it has to be a case of safe rather than
really sorry, so I guess I'm waiting on the answer to this as well- only
mines a '73.
