[T3] Signs Point to Bad Generator
<x-flowed>All -
My generator light is on, so I ran a couple of diagnostic procedures from
the John Muir book. The first procedure I did was to remove both
connections from the back of the generator, clip my static timing light bulb
to the large wire, then ground the base of the light bulb and the thin wire
to the generator to see if it would light up. It didn't light up, which
Muir says indicates a bad generator.
The other test I ran was to push on the brush while the car was running to
check for sparks on the commutator. There was no spark.
My question is, do you think there is a good chance I just need to replace
the brushes? Or should I go ahead an buy another generator?
