I had this problem with our semi-domesticated cat Mr. Stumpy (he has an unnaturally short tail). I pulled the engine out to the Squareback but left the engine cover off. Mr. Stumpy started jumping up through the engine compartment and sleeping inside the car. I'm sure it is more comfortable than the flower pot he usually sleeps in. My wife saw him jump out one morning when she was getting the paper. I put the engine cover back in place and Stumpy is back to sleeping in the flower pot.
