I've got a ''68 Squareback with Weber ICTs. After fiddling with it trying to get it run like it should I did a compression check and found no compression in the #1 cylinder. I assumed a burnt valve. I had a set of T1 heads in the garage so I had them rebuilt. I finally got around to pulling the old heads off and found two things that I don't understand. First, the valves on #1 don't look bad. In my only experience with burnt valves the head of the valve had a little "pie slice" shaped split in it. Is there something I'm not seeing? It also looks like the cylinder was leaking where it seals to the head. Could this be the problem and how do I fix that? Second, when I pulled the valve covers off there was a lot of little gold flecks on the rockers and in the covers. Where does that come from?
