The originals were fiberglass composites so it certainly could be done. Problem will be making a mold to lay them up in. If you could get your hands on one (even on loan) you could use it to make the mold. Once you have the mold you are all set. We could all have one then <G>. The alternative would be to carve up some foam like I am doing for Brian Fye's engine cover and then glass over that. BTW, what for an update on Brian's cover in the next week or so........it is getting closer....
