that's cool, i'm certain that the meter and test leads were correct, and i 
am also certain that the two tests i did were quite different. everything 
seems to have corrected itself without any real harm, otherthan the 
flasher relay/turn signals do not work, they want to but don't. as soon as 
i can find a new flasher i will know for certain...but i will continue to 
hunt out bad connections and such until then.
