I'll try to answer the question that I THINK you are asking. I THINK you have your AT engine out and you need to remove the gland nut. You want to do this without damaging the AT drive plate or the gland nut. Here's what do do. Get a 6' length of 1.25 x 1.25 x 1/8, or bigger, angle iron. Drill 2 3/8" holes in it near one end, spaced far enough apart that you can bolt 2 of the drive plate holes to this bar. You may have to turn the engine over some to work the nuts behind the drive plate. Tighten the bolts snugly to keep the drive plate flat where it bears agains the angle iron. Let the far end of the bar rest against the ground on your left. Get a 3/4" T-bar drive, 1-7/16" socket and a cheater bar. Turn the gland nut off CCW. DON'T try to do this by jumping on your wrench, as this may cause the drive plate to bend. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
