I tore down a set of dual port heads to rebuild for my new engine. I found something I thought I would share if you are interested. http://classicvw.org/gallery/my_heads I did not see the engine these heads came off of, but from my experience, I will just about bet that this engine did not have any thermostat linkage in it. Look at the carbon build up in the intake ports. This is very common on FI engines that never get warmed up completely. The last time I saw carbon worse than this was in 1982 on a '69 FB automatic that only had 12k miles on it. The proverbial "little old ladies" car. I told her granddaughter that it should be driven more often and warmed up completely. They started using it as a pizza delivery car and it had been completely trashed. -- Russ Wolfe '66 FB MT (It drove) '71 FB AT '65 Bug (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
