	On my carbed VWs, I've tried placing the filter forward of the
engine in the tranny area like folks have mentioned.  It does indeed make
for fewer junctions in the engine compartment.

	I have also found that it makes for more and better opportunities
to get drenched in gasoline when servicing the filter.  Just *love* it
when gas runs down the length of my arm, down my back, etc...
