it is my wife's car so i think i will ask her if she wants the custom 
option, otherwise i will start looking for donor pieces.

if you take the dash apart can you get to the back side of that area? or 
are you limited to the top, i'm sure it won't be fun welding upside down, 
maybe i'll roll the car over(hehehe, just kidding)...
