<x-charset iso-8859-1>Hello- > Straight through does not always promote flow. *very slight* correction... Straight through does not always promote _performance_. Putting a piece of pipe on a bench and testing "flow" with a constant airstream is different than putting it in an environment where it sees pulsed flows and contributes to exhaust scavenging. But, you are correct that straight through isn't always the best. Case-in-point: if you look at a lot of small engines (small bike stuff and whatnot), you'll see some funny cone-shaped mufflers. They are expansion chambers, and are designed to increase the resonating effect of pulses for exhaust scavenging. They _make_ power! Some car racers adopted this idea for their vehicles. I have one on my T3, too :-).
