<x-charset iso-8859-1>My thoughts on extrude honing are this;

It can be used on long, complex pieces that you don't have access to with
conventional porting tools (SHO intakes, for example), but you can also just
cut them open, port, and TIG together again. The other problem is that it
erodes aluminum at a far greater rate then the valve seats, and the seat
shape is the most critical part of head porting (assuming you are trying to
improve power and drivability).

Lastly, the extrude hone process is done at a MUCH different velocity then
the air/fuel mix travelling thru your intake, so the same "rules" don't
apply because air/fuel is an elastic fluid, the extrude hone abrasive is
effectively a liquid, so they behave very differently.

My recommendation? Stick to hand porting for VW heads and intakes.

I hope this makes sense, it's not 101 level engine tech! :-)
