woohoo!!! as you may recall i am new to this list because i just bought a 67 fastback. it was towed to my house after i purchased it, so i have been working on getting it running. i ordered a new set of 34 icts which showed up in less than 24 hrs, from performance parts warehouse(they are in ny but the shipped to me from cali) anyway i spent friday evening and saturday morning putting the carbs together, i borrowed a 009 dizzy that i had from another engine, and got it all put together. she fired right up, all i had to do was tweek the carbs for mixture and idle and set the timing. so fun! this is the first t3 i've ever owned, driven, or even ridden in! too cool! i took it around the block a few times, and then let my wife do the same, because it is her car and she came out giving me that look, you know that look....anyway... we drove it around the block a few times for fun, and the front brakes started binding up, they were dragging a bit when we started but i couldn't help ignoring that to see what she drove like. so my question... i have read a little bit about the front calipers and brakes but i've never worked on them before. they are binding and dragging, not seized yet, but the left one is close. is it recommended that i take the calipers off and have them rebuilt at a shop? is this something i can do myself? should i drain the brake fluid and freshen it up? i'd really like to be able to take it to yakima this weekend, but i may have to wait...please send advice. thanks, -matthias portland, oregon '66 type I '74 type II '67 type III fastback (* Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop. *) ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
