I think you said that one of them was warm while the other was cold. Look most closely at the one which is cold. Check the pushrods to make sure that their outer ends are properly seated in the rocker arm sockets. Check that all the pushrods are there. Check the valve adjustment. Check to see if anything fell down in the intake port of the head. Check to make sure that there is not an extra washer between the head and the intake manifold that would jack up the manifold and cause a leak. Same for the space between the carb and the manifold, both sides of the insulator. Check that the gaskets are not torn.
