<x-charset iso-8859-1>It's not critical - thick sealer is OK, as too is the plumbers sealand impregnated tape that is used round buried pipes (Denzotape in the UK ?). It stops the two surfaces touching and scratching - the rubber washers seal the holes from water. Dave.
