In fact can anyone just straight out > > tell me how to do it? > First off, check your steering box, tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings, torsion arms and stabiliser bar for any looseness. It's not much fun trying to keep the steering steady when there's two inches of slack at the steering wheel rim, and alignment when there are loose components is a waste of time - right Jason?! If you've done some miles, you may notice signs of uneven tire wear, which can indicate incorrect alignment. Tires can also cause the car to steer badly, vibrate etc if they are unevenly worn. You can fiddle with tracking, and you can even measure and adjust camber your self, but the time you wasted messing about is sometimes better spent watching the mechanic align it with the right equipment.
